To agree with our God is to acknowledge His words, with our words.
Romans 10: 8 – 10 tells us how to agree with God, and at the same time how to pass from death to life, darkness to light, defeat to victory.
8 ) What does it ( scripture ) say? Paul referring to what Moses said in Deut. 30: 11 – 14. The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart.
” That is the word of faith ” which we preach. if it was good enough for Moses and Paul, it’s good enough for me too!
9 ) That if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 ) For with the heart man believes unto righteousness ( right standing with God ), and with the ” mouth ” confession is made unto salvation.
Let’s take a small look at the word confession, the Greek word is homo logeo, meaning homo = the same, and logeo word or words.
Homo = to say the same thing or things that god says ( to verbally agree with god )
Logeo = written words ( to speak god’s written word )
When we speak God’s written word we show ourselves to be in agreement with Him. When we speak what our circumstances may dictate to us, our problems, etc… instead of acknowledging what God says about our problems or troubles, then we are showing ourselves to be in disagreement with our God.
Jesus is our perfect example of this :
John 3: 34
God sent Jesus to speak the words of God, and because He did, He had the Holy Spirit without measure and so can we, if we’ll do the same.
Matt. 4: 1 – 11
At the start of Jesus’ ministry, the devil came to interrupt, interfere, and hinder Jesus from getting started. Every time the devil tempted Jesus, Jesus said ( confessed ) it is written! Jesus quoted scripture at the devil. We know this stuff, it’s elementary, however, this is something that our God wants us to do at all times. Whether it’s popular, convenient, whether we’re alone or surrounded by others. God’s Word is to be spoken in every area of our lives, not just warfare. On the job, in school, in marriage, in parenting, in the ministry, in all areas of our lives. God wants his word and will manifesting and operating, richly bless us ( his children ) every day.
2 Cor. 4: 13
Paul says, and since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written ( the word ), ” I believe and therefore I spoke. ” we also believe and therefore speak ( the word ).
Bottom line :
If we truly want change in our lives we need to agree with God, see ourselves the way he sees us, and say what he says about us. By doing so, we will humbly incorporate his help in our lives because he watches over his word to perform it. Jer. 1: 12, Is. 55: 11, Mk. 16: 20, Matt. 8: 8
Psalm 119: 140 Passion Bible – listen to this :
All your promises glow with fire; that’s why I’m a lover of your word.
